The Great I AM
“But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”” Exodus 3:11 NKJV
Moses said, "Who am I?" because he realizes that he does not have the ability to fulfill the great calling as Israel's deliverer. God responds with "I AM who" will go before you and cause you to succeed where you have failed in the past. The Lord is the great initiator, the great pursuer of His people and His purpose. It was the Lord who arranged the encounter at the burning bush. It was the Lord who had already spoken to Aaron, Moses' older brother to begin the journey to find Moses in Midian. It was the Lord who had prepared Israel's hearts to now be ready to follower their deliverer when prior to they were resistant ("Who made you ruler and judge over us?” Exodus 2:14). When we say, "Who am I?”, The Lord says "I AM who." May we rejoice today that the great "I AM" has gone before us to enable us to succeed in every good work.
