Abiding

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭8‬ ‭

Here is an open invitation to experience the Lord's goodness in the midst of the seasons of life. If we are drained by life's challenges, we can taste the goodness of God to refresh our weary hearts least we faint along the way. If we are excited by life's successes, we can taste the joys of heaven through praise and thanksgiving least our soul become intoxicated with the pleasures of this world. We can taste and see the Lord is good every day, all day and so learn to abide in Christ all the time. John 15:4 says "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." The branch doesn't say "the sun is shining today so I don't need to abide in the vine or I'm bearing much fruit so I don't need to abide in the vine. I've got this figured out". The branch just stays connected to the vine, receiving vital support, no matter the season. We learn the secrets, develop the skills, to learn to abide through life's many twists and turns. It is helpful to identify the circumstances where we find it hard to abide and ask the Lord for a strategy, a plan to help us abide in that circumstance. May the Lord help us grow in our ability to taste and see that the Lord is good in everything we do today.
